*FREEBIE* Ancient Greek GREECE Olympic Games Kotinos Olive Wreath Craft
Create your own Kotinos, or the olive wreath given to the winner of the ancient Olympic Games. Made from the sacred wild-olive tree near the temple of Zeus, these branches were cut with a pair of golden scissors, and then taken to the temple of Hera and placed them on a gold-ivory table. From there, the "Hellanodikai" (the judges of the Olympic Games) would take them, make the wreaths and crown the winners of the Games.
Includes two pages of resources - one step-by-step instructions with photos and pattern. Children cut out olive leaves out of felt (not included) and thread onto pipe cleaners (not included). Promotes fine motor skills; also included in the GREECE Activity Book/Study Bundle.
